Dear Breakthrough Families,
It was so wonderful to see so many of you today as we get our first week of online learning started! We so appreciate your dedication to your scholar’s learning, your ability to be flexible and adapt during these times, as well as your patience as we all get up to speed together.
We understand that some of you experienced challenges connecting to your classroom and/or getting through to our call center or your school. Please know that we have designed the first week of school to provide plenty of time to work through all of these technology issues, so that no one will be left behind or miss any learning time. We are with you all the way and will have extra phone lines staffed tomorrow should you need us!
Here are some simple steps to take to ensure you will have easy access to your child’s classroom:
Devices: The easiest way to “go to school” is by using your school-supplied Chromebook. You can log in using your scholar’s Google login. If for some reason you need/want to use your own device, that’s fine, too. The call center can help you navigate just a few extra steps if you use your own device. Issues? Call our Call Center: (216) 539-2100
Schoology: Once you are logged into the chromebook, go to bt.schoology.com and log in using your same Google login. You’ll then be IN the classroom! Need help with your Google login? You can call your school’s front desk. Line busy? Either try a little later or call the call center at (216) 539-2100 and they’ll track it down and get back to you.
Student Schedule: Once you’re logged in bt.schoology.com, all student schedules are now being posted in the Homeroom Folder! Don’t see yours? Call your school’s front desk.

We hope this message finds you healthy and well. The countdown to the first day of school is officially on! Our first day of School At Home is Tuesday, September 8. This week we want to provide you with a Getting Ready for Day 1 Checklist:
Pick Up Your Supply Kit
If you have not yet picked up your supply kit, you still have time! The pickup supply kit includes Curriculum & Workbooks, Essential School Supplies, and Technology / Devices (if requested). Friday, 9/4 is our make-up pickup day and you can stop by your scholar’s school any time between 9am-3pm.
Power On Your Device
We ask that you please power on your child’s device before Day 1. Turn it on, check your power cords, and make sure your scholar is set up for success! For any tech questions, all our contact info is here: https://breakthroughschools.org/home-tech/
Review Your Daily Schedule
Every scholar has a schedule for live learning starting on September 8. Writing it down for your scholar might be helpful for them! All schedule information will be communicated directly by your scholar’s school.

Setup a Space for Learning
A small dedicated space for learning can go a long way! A place for your scholar to sit comfortably will make the School At Home experience more predictable for everyone.
A Note of Encouragement
Scholars (and adults!) will have a full range of emotions on Day 1. We encourage you to leave your scholar a note of encouragement to give them a confidence boost for Day 1. It can go a long way!
Our teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing to provide your scholar with a wonderful learning experience from Day 1. We know that not everything will necessarily go perfectly right out of the gate, and we appreciate your patience as we all go on this journey together.
