Update on Survey Responses and School Plans for Winter

Dear Breakthrough Parents and Families,

We hope this email finds you healthy and in good spirits, especially during this unprecedented time. This week we have two key messages to share with you:

  1. Thank You! Providing a safe, high quality educational learning environment for all of our scholars continues to be our highest priority and I want to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for trusting our Breakthrough Team to provide a high-quality, robust remote educational experience for your child. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us, formally through surveys and informally through calls and messages. And, thank you for everything you are doing to make managing this year possible. We appreciate you all so much.
  2. Survey Results & Winter Plans: Many of you completed the Winter Reopening Family Survey.   The results of the surveys overwhelmingly indicated that health and safety remains a key concern when deciding whether or not our scholars should attend school in person. These results, along with survey responses from our staff, current health trends and research, and proactive conversations with other educational leaders have guided us to the following decisions:
    • Remaining Remote: On January 12th scholars will continue to attend school from home
    • Out of Home Remote Learning Centers: Our RLCs will continue to provide support for our families who need it, while we work diligently to secure more spaces for families who have expressed interest
    • Commitment to Quality: We will continue to provide a robust, high quality remote learning experience for our scholars, including using what we have learned thus far to implement key improvements going forward – Your children’s ability to keep learning is our #1 goal.

  • Monitoring Our Options: As we have worked hard to do all year, we will continue to listen to our families, our staff, our communities, and experts in the medical communities as we monitor our options and keep our school year progressing

While a majority of families cited an overall positive experience with remote learning to date, we also know that none of this is easy, and it all comes with great dedication and sacrifice from so many directions. The decision to continue with remote learning was not an easy one. We understand the critical importance of our scholars learning in person, and the socio-emotional benefits of being together. We will continue to do everything we can to make our unprecedented school year the best and most positive experience it can be for all of you.

Thank you for continued support and trust as we navigate these uncharted times. And, thank you for your continued feedback, ideas, and input. Please contact your school’s principal or Director of Operations if you have any questions.

Please be safe, stay healthy and know how much we appreciate you all.

With gratitude,
