December Letter from the Principal

Dear CLA Families,
November has been a very busy month for our students and teachers. We participated in our second round of Interims and many of our students showed a great deal of academic growth. We are also beginning to see the culture of the school shift in a positive direction! As we begin our Winter Trimester, our focus will remain on students receiving rigorous instruction and connecting their fieldwork to their everyday lives.
6th Grade Open Enrollment has begun and will take place until February 8th, 2014. If you have a current 5th grade student or know someone with a 5th grade student, we invite you to join us at a parent meeting on December 10th at 5:30 – 6:30pm. If you have any enrollment questions please call James Harris @ 216-229-8185.
Additionally, we would like to take this time to ensure you are aware of all upcoming CLA December events. Please note, the Winter Dance has been postponed until January 2014.
Thursday, December 5: Afternoon and Evening Parent/Teacher Conferences. Students will be dismissed at 1:45 and ALL afternoon activities will be cancelled. Please ensure your student is picked up from school on time!
Friday, December 6: Morning conferences, no school for students.
Tuesday, December 10: 2nd Movie Night, 4:00. Details to come!
Wednesday, December 18: PAC Meeting at 5:30, the focus will be on Bullying.
Friday, December 20: Celebration of Learning, details to come!
Throughout December we will be tracking and celebrating attendance with our students. Please review the importance of being on time and in school daily.
If you have any questions about the above-mentioned calendar updates, please do not hesitate to ask. Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Break, we will see you on Monday, December 2!
