Teacher Selection Process
Step 1 – Online Application & Assessment
This is your first opportunity to tell us about you! When you complete the application, you will be asked to upload a resume and complete several short narrative response questions, including why you want to work in urban education and at one of our schools. Also, you will be asked to complete an online 25-minute TeacherInsight Assessment, and provide three professional references.
Step 2 – Initial Interview
You may be asked to complete an initial interview either by phone or video conference.
Step 3 – School-Based Interview
Once the initial interview is complete, the hiring team will make selection decisions and you may be invited to participate in a school-based interview with the school team.
Step 4 – Join the Team!
Upon completing the reference checks, if we are interested, we will make an offer contingent on the successful completion of your background check. You will typically have about a week to get back to us with your decision.
Tips for Completing Your Application
Do your research.
We are looking for people who have clearly done research when applying. The work you put into researching us really comes through in how you present yourself in the interview process. Research can include talking to current employees or scheduling a campus visit.
Take the application questions seriously.
A majority of the people who do not get offered an interview do not take the narrative portion of the application seriously enough. Candidates either do not put in the necessary effort or they fail to truly answer the question.
Have an honest resume.
Make sure your resume truly reflects the things you have accomplished in your career. Many times, candidates are cheating themselves when crafting their resume. We want to see your accomplishments and your leadership. Make sure those things shine through when writing your resume.
