New Parent Orientation

June 18, 2015

Dear new CLA family,

We look forward to getting to know you and your scholar as we prepare for your first year at Citizens Leadership Academy.  For your next step during the summer, you need to sign up for a mandatory New Parent Orientation session.  Your choices for this are:

    • Thursday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m.
    • Thursday, July 28, at 5:30 p.m.
    • Saturday, August 1, at 10:30 a.m.
    • Thursday, August 5, at 5:30 p.m.

Please call Ms. Pratt at 216-229-8185 by June 30 to RSVP for one of these important sessions!  Also, be sure to bring your student’s immunization record to the Parent Orientation you select. Additionally, during this orientation, you will have the opportunity to purchase CLA polo shirts (part of the required uniform) for $7.25 each. We will also be distributing summer work for students to get them prepared to become a member of our community.

Just a few weeks ago we celebrated our second CLA eighth-grade graduation. It is with great pride that we share that, having completed three years of Citizens Leadership Academy middle school education, our CLA scholars matriculated to some of the most selective and prestigious high schools in the region: University School, Hawken, John Hay School of Science and Medicine, St. Edward High School, Beaumont, Benedictine, John Hay School of Architecture and Design, St. Martin de Porres, Montessori High School, and John Hay Early College, as well as high-performing and innovative CMSD schools including Mc2STEM School and the Cleveland Digital Arts Academy.  Many of our scholars earned scholarships to these schools, and these schools will help them earn scholarships to college! We will help coach your scholar to make an informed choice in terms of high-school selection, and we will help your whole family in the high-school preparation process starting early on in seventh grade.

Lastly, our CLA community garden is in full swing, and at parent orientation we will be offering some light refreshments made from our school-grown crops. We are looking forward to seeing you and your scholar over the next few weeks!

Sincerely,
