Weekly Family Update 3/19/18

Greetings CLA-EAST Families!

Last week was a truly humbling experience for me as a school leader. I watched as our scholars put aside their differences in order to come together as one and make their voices heard. Despite the cold weather, every one of our scholars and staff members marched from the school to the Glenville branch, Cleveland Public Library. Scholars began to understand the importance of what they were doing as cars drove past honking their horns and shouting, “You all are doing a good job” or “keep letting your voices be heard. With Cleveland Police escorts, we made it to our destination and heard a quick word of motivation from Jahna Harris before turning to go back to the school. Part of CLAE’s mission is for our scholars to be leaders in civic engagement. I’m proud to say that last week our scholars lived our mission and we they are excited to do it again.

Yours in Education,

Ricardo Franklin, Sr.

Founding Principal

School Culture Updates

In crew, this week scholars will continue their discussion surrounding courage. This week the focus will be on identifying when we display courage and how we encourage ourselves in our moments of weakness. The habit of leadership learning target for the week is; “I will hold myself and my peers accountable for living the values of CLAE”. I invite all of our parents to join in on the discussions this week and every week during crew. Crew times are 7:45 am to 8:15 am daily.
