Remote Learning Centers Family Update

Dear Breakthrough Parents and Families,

As you heard earlier this week, all Breakthrough scholars will continue with remote learning in January. We are committed to continuing to operate our Remote Learning Centers and want to affirm that all scholars who are currently enrolled in a Remote Learning Center will continue to have a space.

We also want to remind everyone that our remote learning centers can only continue operating if COVID-19 cases among participating students and staff remain low. While we have still only had one positive case (with no further spread) among students and staff across all of our six campuses, if we see a substantial worsening of conditions in our community or a significant increase in exposures in any of our centers, we may have no choice but to close one or all of our campuses for at least several weeks.

Your actions matter, and there are a few things everyone can do to support our health and safety protocols and help protect all staff and students in our RLC community:

1. We must all adhere to and model the public health protocols that we know prevent the spread of COVID-19, including wearing face masks, keeping physical distance, practicing frequent hand washing, avoiding larger social gatherings, and keeping children at home with even mild symptoms.

2. Please regularly reinforce with your scholars the importance of wearing their mask and keeping physical distance at all times while they are at school.

3. All of the above is particularly important as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday. If your family does have travel plans, please remember that we expect all scholars and staff to abide by all Ohio travel advisories. In particular, that means self-quarantining for 14 days following a trip to any state that is on the travel advisory list at any point during the trip. If you do have plans to travel to a state on the list, please inform your scholar’s school so we know not to expect them at the RLC during the self-quarantine period.

Finally, please remember to contact your scholar’s school or complete the information in this form immediately if your child is exposed to, becomes symptomatic of, tests positive for, or receives a clinical diagnosis of COVID-19. Accurate data and the ability to respond quickly and advise any children or staff exposed is also critical to our ability to keep everyone in our community safe.
