Weekly Family Update

Greetings CLA-EAST Families!

Last week we received some exciting news from the Ohio Department of Education released the Report card grades for districts and schools. I am proud to announce that we received an overall grade of “B” on our state report card. A complete breakdown of state scores can be found on the ODE website. Our staff and scholars worked extremely hard last year and we hope to have similar results from the work put forth this year. None of this is possible without your help. We’ve gained some traction in getting parent volunteers but we need more. There are many ways to get involved and helping at the school. Please email me if you are interested in volunteering in the coming weeks.

I’d like to remind all families that our curriculum night was rescheduled for Tuesday, September 18th and will be from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm. This is your opportunity to cruise through our classrooms and see what the students have been working on. You’ll also be creating your very own hands-on classroom product at the end of the night. Dinner will be provided and students will receive a dress-down pass for you attending.

After school clubs are in full swing. We currently have a total of 9 clubs and activities offered. As a reminder, students should be picked up promptly at the conclusion of their afterschool club. Most clubs end at 4:30 pm with the exception of sports team practices. Times and days of participation are subject to change. The current session of afterschool clubs run from September 10th thru October 5th. There will be a week off between sessions.

Attendance has been trending down over the last two weeks. We currently sit at 94.3% for the current school year. Research shows that students who have a higher percentage of attendance to the start of the year will have a great chance to earn higher grades throughout the year. Please make every effort to ensure your student(s) is present each day at school.

As always, you are invited to join us for community meetings each and every Friday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am in the gym. We are always looking for guest speakers, so if you or anyone you know is interested in addressing our scholars with a motivation message, please email Mr. Shahid at anwar.shahid@citizensleadership.org. I’m looking forward to another great week…let’s go TIGERS!

Yours in Education,

Ricardo Franklin, Sr.

Founding Principal
