BPS Family Update – Yellow Bus + Uniforms

Breakthrough Families,

As we begin the process of celebrating the end of this most unusual school year, we are also increasingly engaged in preparations to welcome all of our scholars and staff back to our campuses in person next fall.  A few weeks ago, we shared the 2021-22 calendar with all of you. Today, we want to share updates on two other topics that are important for our return to school in August: uniform purchasing and yellow bus transportation sign-up.

Uniform Purchasing

Uniforms are required for the 21-22 school year, and it’s not too early to purchase yours!

For our Prep schools and Citizens elementary schools (grades K-4 at CA and CAE & grades K-5 at CAS), you will have several options for purchase:

  • Uniforms can be purchased from Schoolbelles.
    • There is unique order information by school, so please watch out for a Remind message in the next few weeks with specific order information.
    • You will have the option to purchase at the Schoolbelles store (4747 W. 160th St. OR 468 Richmond Rd. Suite E), or online with a unique school code. They are offering free shipping on orders placed online through July 31st.
  • You will also be able to place your order through your scholar’s school and pick up at the school later this summer.

For our Citizens Leadership middle schools (grades 5-8 at CLA and CLAE & grades 6-8 at CLAS), you can purchase your uniform polos directly from the school.

Yellow Bus Sign-Up

Sign up for yellow bus transportation for the 21-22 school year is now open! Our process has been updated to be digital and allow you to express interest and sign forms online.

Breakthrough Schools partners with CMSD to provide yellow bus transportation to eligible K-6 scholars who reside in the city of Cleveland. Due to the pandemic, CMSD adjusted their eligibility requirements for the current school year to require families to live 2+ miles away from their school in order to receive transportation. Final eligibility requirements for next year have not yet been announced. Therefore, at this time, we recommend that all families submit an interest form and we will update you regarding your eligibility as we monitor CMSD’s policies.

To express interest in yellow bus transportation, please complete this survey:

If your scholar is in 7th or 8th grade and a Cleveland resident, they may apply for an RTA student pass.

Please be on the lookout for more information on both these items directly from your scholar’s school!  And as always, please reach out to your scholar’s school directly with any questions about the above updates or any other topics related to the close of this school year and our preparations for next fall.  We will continue to share updates as our planning progresses!

Best,
