Weekly Family Update

Greetings CLA-EAST Families!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and the decent weather we had. As the weather continues to shift to the familiar winter chills we are accustomed to, I want to remind families that scholars are permitted to wear solid colored hoodies (purple, black, white and gray) while in school. This is to accommodate scholars who feel they need to be warmer throughout the school day. Scholars are also permitted to wear CLA-EAST fleece, solid colored (same as above) sweaters and cardigans. Jackets and/or outside coats are permitted to be worn during school hours.

This week we will continue to work on the programming for the Celebration of Learning. COL is on Thursday, December 20th from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. This is a time for our scholars to showcase some of products and cases studies they have completed during the first half of the year. Please mark it on your calendar to attend this exciting event.

At our school, Habits of Leadership are norms we use to help build and sustain a healthy school culture. Each of the six HOL’s is posted throughout the school and discussed during crew and class time weekly. This week and moving forward our school-wide focus will be on self-discipline. The HOL Self-discipline has to targets we will strive to master. (1) I can control my words and actions in all situations. (2) I can reflect on my actions to improve my choices. Please review these HOL targets with your scholar(s) to ensure we are all working towards a common goal.

This Tuesday, I invite all parents/guardians to join me for the family engagement discussion. We will meet at 9:30 am and share with each other, the best ways to move forward with parent engagement and set plans to begin active involvement in the month of December and beyond. There will be coffee and Danish.

I’m looking forward to another great week…let’s go TIGERS!

Yours in Education,

Ricardo Franklin, Sr.

Founding Principal
