Weekly Family Update
Greetings CLA-EAST Families!
Can you believe we are entering our 7th week of school? This means we are half-way through the first trimester. Although we have come a long way, there is so much more to be accomplished. This week our scholars will begin planning for Student-Led Conference. SLC will are Thursday, October 4th from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Friday, October 5th from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. Scholars will be dismissed at 1:00 pm on Thursday and there is no school on Friday. please make plans for these two days. Also, SLC is a requirement and all families are in need of scheduling their conference. You can schedule your conference by visiting our website and selecting your choice of day and time.
Last Friday, September 21, scholars received their most up-to-date progress report. I urge all families to remain diligent in working with your scholar and their teachers, as a team, to provide support in areas of need. If you have any questions regarding your scholars’ grades/progress, please reach out to their teachers directly (firstname.lastname@citizensleadership.org).
This week, 7th grade will begin a new pilot program aimed at promoting desired scholar behaviors. Our target, RESPECT; modeling and celebrating respect. The RESPECT initiative is a form of positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS). It provides scholars with skills, teachable moments and the practice for modeling respect at school, home and their community. Full details of the program will be passed out to 7th-grade scholars on Monday to be taken home. The program will begin Tuesday morning.
As attendance awareness month comes to an end I want to encourage all families to continue to the great job you’ve been doing with getting your scholar(s) to school. The more often a young person is in school, their chances of doing well in class increases.
As always, you are invited to join us for community meetings each and every Friday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am in the gym. We are always looking for guest speakers, so if you or anyone you know is interested in addressing our scholars with a motivation message, please email Mr. Shahid at anwar.shahid@citizensleadership.org. I’m looking forward to another great week…let’s go TIGERS!
Yours in Education,
Ricardo Franklin, Sr.
Founding Principal
