CLAE Principal Announcement
Dear Citizens East families,
We are excited to announce Andesia DeJesus as the principal of Citizens Leadership Academy East! In the search for our newest middle school principal, we sought an outstanding leader with coaching skills, and the ability and desire to create collaborative relationships with scholars, families, and staff — all intended to build on the strong foundation already established at CLAE.
After meeting with East staff, families, scholars, and network leaders, we were incredibly thrilled to offer the role to Ms. DeJesus. Please get to know Principal DeJesus by reading her bio below and join us in welcoming her to our dynamic principal team!
Andesia DeJesus is a Kentucky native that moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in 2016. Prior she worked as a teacher in Kentucky, Texas, and New Jersey before calling Cleveland home. Her journey in education allowed her to work and support schools in various states and thus amplified her passion for ensuring all students are receiving a quality education that will allow them to compete for future opportunities on a national level. While in Cleveland, Andesia has worked as a teacher, leader, and instructional coach before joining Breakthrough. A top priority for the 2021-2022 school year is to provide a place where students feel equipped to take ownership of their learning in a safe and supportive environment. Along with a safe and supportive environment, Andesia cares deeply that student instruction is: engaging, culturally relevant, and paired with strong leadership and character development. More than anything, she is excited to learn more from students, staff, and families detailing their aspirations for the upcoming school year and beyond.
