Important News About the CEO Transition at Breakthrough
Dear Breakthrough Family,
In December 2020, Alan Rosskamm shared that, at his request, the BPS Board embarked on the process of looking for a successor to serve as the next CEO for Breakthrough Public Schools. Much has been accomplished during Alan’s tenure, and we are very grateful for his leadership. While our future is promising under the Better Together initiative, there is work to be done each day to uphold our commitments to academic excellence, equity, and to becoming an anti-racist organization. One of the most important decisions we’ll make this year is selecting a CEO to lead our network of 3,600 scholars and families, twelve schools, and a dedicated staff community into the next decade.
Today, we are pleased to announce that we have formally engaged Korn Ferry as our search partner. Korn Ferry is a global search and consulting firm with extensive experience placing high-impact CEOs not only around the world but also locally in the Cleveland area. We are confident Korn Ferry will support us in leading a broad and inclusive search process.
As we begin our work with Korn Ferry, we want to hear from you. Please click the BPS CEO Search button below to access a confidential survey to inform this important effort. Responses will be shared with the CEO Search Taskforce and Korn Ferry.
Over the next several weeks, many of you will also hear directly from Korn Ferry, as they conduct additional outreach via focus groups and one-on-one conversations to teachers, staff, families, scholars, and other stakeholders to understand our collective visions, aspirations for the future and the kind of leader Breakthrough will need to guide us to the next level of achievement. This collective feedback will create the foundation for our CEO profile and job description.
You can expect future updates from the CEO Search Task Force to keep everyone informed of our search progress. The CEO Taskforce is a diverse group of BPS stakeholders including board members, staff members, and family and alumni representatives. The Task Force will ensure the collective feedback is reflected in the CEO profile, review candidates, participate in first and second-round interviews, and recommend finalist candidates to the Breakthrough Public Schools Board of Directors. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact us at CEOsearch@bcs.bt.school.
