BPS Family Update – Fall Re-Acclimating Plan

Dear Families,

Thank you for navigating this school year with us as we faced COVID-19 together, and for the critical role, you have played as academic and social-emotional supporters for your scholars. We value your partnership and want to keep you abreast with our plans regarding our primary mode of learning for the next school year.

Breakthrough Public Schools (BPS) is planning to return to a full in-person program this fall and we’re crafting an intentional program designed to support re-acclimating scholars. Our network and school teams are creating intentional social-emotional and academic experiences in support of our commitment to being culturally responsive and anti-racist.

We’re proud to have offered an extremely robust school at-home opportunity this past year. Yet, we recognize that individual scholars will be at different places in their learning. BPS is committed to meeting each scholar where they are in their academic program in order to accelerate their learning in the coming year.

In addition to our intentional program designed to re-acclimate scholars to in-person school, a critical component of our commitment is to protect the health and safety of you, our scholars, our staff, and their families. To this end, we will continue to closely monitor best practices for a safe return to school.

We understand that in spite of the rapid increase in vaccinations, some families may still desire a remote learning option. Unfortunately, the State of Ohio waiver that enabled BPS and other schools to offer remote learning has not been renewed, and it is unlikely that remote learning will be available to us.

We’re grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us to educate your scholar during the pandemic and we’re asking that you continue to trust us to provide a safe and meaningful in-person educational experience for your scholar this fall. You may access next year’s school calendar here.
