Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School

About Our High School

The mission of Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School is to engage students through personalized, challenging curriculum with real-world connections, internships with community partners, and anytime-anywhere learning, so that they believe in their abilities, explore new opportunities, and chart their own course.

With close proximity to airports and Lake Erie, Davis Aerospace & Maritime High School students enjoy a unique, hands-on, high school program with experiences in and out of the classroom that no other school offers. Beyond standard required courses, students additionally take Maritime Science (where they design, build, and repair model boats), Aviation Science (where they use flight simulators, design and race drones), and Engineering (where they use CAD software and 3D printers). All students learn to swim, sail on the lake in various boats, and if they want to, can learn how to fly a plane and get their private pilot’s license. They are also connected with industry professionals from the Cleveland Airport System, the US Coast Guard, and others

To explicitly support college and career-readiness, we offer a four-year course sequence: AVID in 9th/10th which provides academic and organizational support; College and Career Readiness in 11th (SAT-prep, job shadow, resume-writing, interview practice), and then Senior Seminar which supports the college application process.

Extra-curriculars include: Drone Club, Fabrication Club, Aviation Club, Fishing, Robotics, Lifeguarding, Boat Building, Rowing, Sailing, Flight Instruction, Marine Safety Program, and Powerlifting.

Crew: To help students succeed and feel connected to others, students at Davis are in groups of 10-15 students, paired with one Advisor, in a “Crew.” This group meets every day to build community, set and monitor academic goals, and explore and discuss issues relevant to teens.
