Install Chrome on Personal Device

If your personal device does not already have the Google Chrome browser, click on your device type to jump to instructions on how to download it:

Windows laptop, notebook or desktop

  1. Go to google.com/chrome. You can use any web browser to download the Chrome browser. If you haven’t installed a browser, you can use your operating system’s pre-installed web browser (Internet Explorer or Edge).
  2. Click on the big blue "Download Chrome" button. This will open the Terms of Service window.
  3. Determine if you want Chrome as your default browser. If so, check the "Set Google Chrome as my default browser" checkbox to make Chrome your default browser. Setting a default browser means it will open whenever a link for a web page is clicked in another program, such as email.
  4. Click the "Accept and install" button. 
  5. If prompted, click on the Run button when the confirmation dialog appears
  6. The installer will ask permission to run, select Yes.
  7. Chrome will be installed on your system and automatically launched.

Macbook or Apple computer

  1. Go to google.com/chrome. You can use any web browser to download Google Chrome browser. If you haven’t installed a browser, you can use your operating system’s preinstalled web browser (Safari for Mac).
  2. Click on the big blue "Download Chrome" button. This will open the Terms of Service window.
  3. Click the "Accept and install" button.
  4. Select Downloads, then select googlechrome.dmg from the list.
  5. Drag Google Chrome to the Applications shortcut. Chrome will begin copying to your computer.
  6. Once Chrome has finished copying, drag the mounted installer disk image for Chrome from your Desktop to the Trash to unmount it. You do not need the installer now that Chrome is installed.
  7. Go to your Applications folder and double-click Google Chrome to start using your new web browser.

iPad (iOS)

  1. On your iPad, open the App Store.
  2. Tap the Search box near the bottom right corner of the screen.
  3. Type in Google Chrome in the search box. Then, choose Google Chrome from the list.
  4. If Google Chrome has not been installed on the device before, tap the Get button and then the Install button.If it has been installed before, tap the cloud icon.

  5. If prompted, enter your Apple ID Password and tap OK. This is the password you use with your Apple ID email address.
  6. Once the app is finished downloading, you can open it and start browsing
  7. To open Chrome within the app store: tap “Open” once it is done downloading.
  8. To open Chrome from your homescreen: Once the app is done downloading, tap the Chrome app icon.

Android tablet or notebook

  1. On your Android tablet, open the Google Play app.
  2. At the top of the page, tap the search bar
  3. In the search bar, type in Google Chrome and select Google Chrome from the search results.
  4. Tap the Google Chrome app
  5. Tap the Install button on the Google Chrome page.
  6. A confirmation dialog will pop up. Click Accept.
  7. Google Chrome will be downloaded and finishes the installation automatically.
  8. Once the app is finished downloading, you can open it and start browsing
    To open Chrome within the app store: Tap the Open button.

    To open Chrome from the Home or All Apps page: Tap the Chrome app icon.
