Near West Intergenerational School
A Community of Lifelong Learners In the Heart of Ohio City
Welcome to Near West Intergenerational School
The Near West Intergenerational School opened in 2011 and is located in the heart of Ohio City in the Kentucky School Building next door to Garrett Morgan High School in Cleveland. Even though NWIS is not officially eligible for a state rating (schools are not rated until after three years), if NWIS were old enough to earn a state rating, it would have earned an EXCELLENT rating!
The Near West Intergenerational School is a public school, with no tuition, and open to all residents of Ohio. The Near West Intergenerational School is our second Intergenerational School campus in Cleveland, and our first West side campus. Both Intergenerational Schools are driven by two concepts: Knowledge is socially acquired and Learning is a lifelong process.
The Intergenerational Schools connect, create and guide a multigenerational community of lifelong learners and spirited citizens.
The Intergenerational Schools are successful Intergenerational Learning Communities that are transforming Cleveland, and the world, into a better and more equitable global community. The Intergenerational Schools will serve as a model to encourage and assist other communities to create similar learning environments.
Innovative approach where students thrive in multi-age classrooms, connect with community mentors, and embrace lifelong learning.
The Near West Intergenerational School is located 3805 Terrett Avenue Cleveland, Ohio 44113 in the heart of Ohio City in the Kentucky School Building next door to Garrett Morgan High School in Cleveland.
